Read-a-thon Burnout

I've been doing a lot of read-a-thons lately.

My first read-a-thon was Bout of Books 7.0 which was run through these lovely ladies --> Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal

Next, I did the 30 Day Reading Challenge hosted by Riquetta over on NerdinTranslation .Which had me attempting to read a book a day for 30 days. I totally failed this one FYI.

Finally, I recently participated in the first ever BookTube-a-thon hosted by Ariel of ArielBissett and Raeleen of PadfootandProngs07

Each of these read-a-thons has been tremendously fun and I have met so many new people through them. In no way do I regret participating in any of these events. In the book blogging and vlogging community these are amazing opportunities to connect with your fellow readers, and really get the conversations going. Not to mention the fact that I am  currently SIX BOOKS AHEAD of my 2013 reading challenge! I mean that's nothing to complain about! It's a straight up happy dance moment!

So what's my point today? What am I trying to say here?

What I am trying to say is that I am one of those people who feels the need to to all of the things, all of the time, and I am tired. So I was wondering....is anyone else tired?  I was hopping to participate in Bout of Books 8.0 this August, but I think I need to take it easy. Read-a-thons are wonderful fun, but I think moderation is the key to success with them.

Hopefully, I am not alone in feeling just a little burned out form all of this. It's time for me to put my feet up and relax with one of those monstrously long books that I love so much. No need to rush myself now. I have plenty of time to just read, and enjoy the story.

Happy Reading everyone! :)

Bout of Books Read-a-thon day 2!

Goals:
I need to read four books this week to catch up with my reading goal for the year so that's what I'm aiming for! I know some people who are aiming for way more than me but I don't want to go completely crazy this week...

Tuesday
Number of books I've read today: 0
Total number of books I've read: 0
Books read today: Black Hole Sun by David Macinnis Gill, The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan
Comments:

Let's just call day two my cheat day. I basically spent the entire day hyperventilating, studying for a final exam. It was horribly stressful! After the test I had yet another school event and arrived home about nine o' clock. From this point on I planned to study for yet another final (scheduled at 8 a.m.!) and read a bit of Percy Jackson. What I ended up doing was reading two chapters of Percy and then promptly passing out.

Short version: Tuesday = Fail

Bout of Books 7.0 Readathon!!

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, May 13th and runs through Sunday, May 19th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 7.0 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. - From the Bout of Books team

Well, I have officially decided to take the plunge and do Bout of Books 7.0! This Bout of Books will run from Monday the 13th until Sunday the 19th. This will be my first readathon ever so I am very excited to prove myself! My goal is to read 4 books during this readathon which I think is rather realistic.

I plan on reading The rest of the Percy Jackson and the Olympian Series during the readathon!

To keep me going on this readathon I will be purchasing shameless amounts of candy! To anyone else participating I wish you the best of luck! :)

The Book Shell is vlogging?!?!

This week was all school, School, SCHOOL. Horrible group projects and mathematics took over my life. Although, I have threatened both already and they promise to leave me alone soon (thank goodness). In, other news, I think it is time I let this blog in on a little secret.

            Are you ready?

I have a YouTube channel!

Now we can all see what I look like....umm still not sure how I feel about this.

I decided to create this channel because I watch a ton of BookTube videos and I want to be apart of this wonderful community. When I first started watching things on YouTube it was primarily beauty guru's. I was completely fascinated by this idea of getting a camera and just talking to people, but make-up just wasn't my thing. Also, not to insult the beauty community, but let's be honest it is not the friendliest place.

Then 2013 came around and I decided that I needed to make a change in my life. I decided that it was high time I devote more energy to the things that I am passionate about. This is what led me to start this blog (read the rest of my new years resolutions here). Around the same time that I was getting into this whole blogging world, I was discovering the BookTube community. Everyone on BookTube is so friendly and open to new people, it is absolutely amazing. I love how everyone is friends and lots of video responses go around because it is such an interactive community. I've made a few videos now and I am enjoying the creative experience so much!

From this point on I will probably post my videos on this blog after they go up on YouTube. I hope you enjoy this new type of media and you can watch all my videos here. Now, I don't have to feel guilty if I ignore one for the other :)

YouTube will be deleted!!

It's about 2:30am and I casually decide to open up YouTube, a normal teenage act. I notice the upper left hand corner has a trophy on it saying that YouTube has a message for me. I get just a tad bit excited..

Omg, YouTube is telling me something...

So I click it, and proceed to watch this video.

WHAT?! NO!!!! YOU CAN'T DO THIS TO ME! I HAVEN'T CAUGHT UP WITH ALL THE VLOGBROTHERS VIDEOS YET!! MY VIDEOS! I'M JUST STARTING! *nearly faints and runs to Google*

Now, in my complete desperation I ask Google if this could possibly be true. Google, of course, leads me to this kind soul who promptly reminds me what a complete idiot I am...

Happy April Fools Day Guys...

In other news, did you hear about Google Nose
